Alright I'm not as desparate as I sound but I was curious. I just have general questions about AP courses and tests. Any answers are appreciated.

What is independent study?? I think I know what it is, but I'm not absolutely sure. Is it recommended?

Does someone have to take an AP course to take the AP Exam?

Has anyone taken a Virtual High School AP course (Apex, VHS, FHS)? If so, how good are they?

What are the easiet AP Exams? I'm considering. AP Statistics, Economics (Both), Environmental Science, and Physcology.

What is the greatest amount of AP Exams someone can take?

What is the recommended maximum AP Exams to take in a year.

Again, I appreciate any answers.

By the way, I study great by myself. Personally, I'm not into the classroom atmosphere. We spend most of our time addressing problems of fellow classmates and therefore waste time. That is why I'm interested in Virtual High School courses.

in order:
1.) independent study generally involves teaching yourself a course without being enrolled in the corse. its recommended if no courses of the sort are easily available to you or if you just think you can handle the material well enough so that actually taking the course woulod be a waste of your time
2.)no
3.) can't comment. I haven't.
4.) easiest are generally considered to be stat, enviro, psych, and econ, though there's really no point in choosing something to study just because its easy. study a subject independently because you enjoy it
5.) how many are there? 40something, I think.
6.) depends how smart you are/how good a work ethic you have. some people can handle 10+ a year and do just fine, others struggle with just one or two.

Independent study is taking it upon yourself to study the material you deem necessary to do well on the test. I would say it is recommended if you can find the time (at least during your junior year).
No, you don't have to take an AP course to take the exam.
I haven't taken a virtual course so I can't really comment on their quality.
I thought Calc AB was a cinch, but I didn't independently study it, and I am a math person. Stats is a lot of memorization and think it would be pretty hard to IS it, but I don't know for sure.
If I am not mistaken, the only limit is how many you can find time for (for example sometimes there are two separate exams in the time slot, in which case you can take the alternate version of one of the tests at a later date).
I would just recommend taking as many as you feel you can do well on. I took 3 this year (senior) and 3 last year, which I feel is a moderate amount. I, personally, think 5 and 6 are the upper bounds of the number of tests you should take because I feel if you have that many tests to study for, you can't study as in depth in each one. Hope that helps somewhat.

thank you all for the replies
