AP requirement for BS/MD admission

I am a Junior in Canada. Currently overall about 94% marks; SAT score 2380; SAT- Chemistry (800), Math 2 (800) and French (780). Lots (last 2 years) of vounteer experience in Hospital, 6 weeks research experience under a Cardiologist. Soccer referee, HS swim team; However, I do not have any AP course since it is not offered here in Junior year. I will be taking AP-Chemistry, Math and French in Senior which will be too late. Appreciate if some one can tell my chances in getting admission to one of the BS/MD program. Note that I am from Canada, so I will be considered an international student. tx.

I don’t think AP courses are required for any program, and the programs do look at what courses you could have taken, so not having them available shouldn’t hurt you. I don’t know how competitive they are for international students, but your stats and ECs would be great for a domestic applicant.

Programs only look to see that you have taken the most challenging classes available to you. Don’t worry about not having enough AP exams if your school doesn’t allow you to take them until later on in your high school career.

I personally know of someone who was accepted into a combined program having only taken 3 APs (Her school, much like yours, didn’t offer them until her senior year).

I agree with sienabound. These programs are looking for students who challenge themselves. One of the admissions reps told me that they look for kids who take advantage of their high school curriculum and take the hardest courses offered. If you’re school doesn’t have a lot of AP classes, just take other challenging courses and they’ll see that you’re working with what you have.

sienabound, were you accepted to the Siena/AMC program? I’m making assumptions based on your username, but I was accepted as well!
