AP-Rescore

The title is self explanatory, but anyways:

I got a 3 in APUSH, and I'm pretty confident I had at least a 4 maybe a 5. All my practice tests I took in class were higher than everyone elses.

I would like a re-score and I have a few questions:

Does collegeboard re-fund you if they figure out that it was indeed their fault, or you skipped 1 problem and if you moved everything up, it would make everything right? (please provide the source)

How do I do it? I mean, they say written statement, but can someone guide me through this?

I feel like a failure, and I feel like I should give up on my dream to Cornell, and just apply Early Action to U of I.

No

Get a piece of binder paper. Write that you want a rescore of which exam. Write down your personal information and AP number for that year and include your signature. Put it in an envelope with a check of $25.00. Finally, mail it.

A 3 shouldn’t bring you down. A high score on the SAT/ACT and SAT II subjects should overshadow the 3.

I got a 3 in AP english too… 4 in Gov, 5 in Chem.

ACT is mediocre (33), SAT II subject tests are okay (770 math ((maybe retake, but I’m not sure it’s even worth it)) 800 chem).

I’m pretty much in a similar situation.

Is there anything else I should include other than:

Name
Address
Gender
Phone Number
Date of Birth
AP Number
AP Exam Title
$25 Check payable to College Board

Is there anything else I should include?

Would it be a good idea to use something like certified mail for this?

I perceive 33 an impressive score. 770 Math and 800 Chemistry are great scores, too.

Besides, 33 is within the middle 50% percentile for Cornell.

^I think that’s all the information you need to provide. I don’t know what certified mail is. For me, I just get a white envelope, write down the addresses on it, and put a stamp on it.

^Thank you. I hope they change my score.

I am in the EXACT same boat. I don’t know if re-scoring will do anything, but in my APUSH class I was consistently getting 5s on the practice tests, and was confident that I should have gotten a higher score than a 3, so I’m willing to give a re-score a try. Has anyone had experience with this before?

Thanks. I was planning to use AP scores to my advantage, but um, I guess it won’t…

^Same here

Well, I hope something happens, even though I was confident oh, and by the way, do they look for only eraser marks, or do they look to see if you skipped one down or something?

Does anyone know what the likelihood is that CB just didn’t add the FR or MC parts together? I recently took the Macro AP exam and got a 2. Which I really don’t understand because in class, all our tests were simply old AP tests, and I did fine on those. Much better than a 2. While taking the actual exam itself, I thought it was easy. However, I don’t think I made a scantron error, so I can’t think of what else it could me. Advice?

What if we wanted to pay by credit card, is this a good idea? Do you need the include the security number?

Credit Card - I guess you provide the credit card number, the security number, and the expiration date. (This is why I find paying by check easier.)

I’m afraid of letting them have such access to my credit card.

RockyChen, do be aware that it’s rather unlikely that one section alone is unlikely to get you a 3. A VERY common error made by CB is that only one section is factored into your score. With a 3, it’s rather unlikely. Basically, you’re paying $25 to make sure a machine didn’t make a mistake or that you didn’t shift your bubbles by one space (which I don’t actually think will be credited; I’ve read otherwise on this forum).

A 3 is a very decent grade. Think about how confident you felt coming out of the exam. Unless you were thinking, “That test was a joke; there’s no way I scored less than a 4 (or 5),” you may want to reconsider rescoring.

I took practice tests in class and got 4s/5s. I also got a 680 on the USH subject test (I know it’s not great, but it was also harder than the AP test. It’s also in the top what? 30 percentile?). I’m pretty confident I got at least a 4.

How confident were you after the exam? I really think it comes down to this.

Overly almost cocky confident, lol.
