So, I am a junior and I am taking AP Seminar with 5 other AP classes. However, I already feel drained out and AP Seminar has been giving me so much stress. I am just wondering if it is worth taking AP Research senior year. If I take AP Research next year, I will be taking 5 AP classes, and I’m honestly just worried, because I heard that 2 of the 5 AP classes (besides AP Research) that I have enrolled for are difficult classes. Would not continuing the AP Capstone program make top colleges with around 30% acceptance rates to reject me or do I still have a chance? I am planning to major in Psychology if that helps in any way… Thank you!
Selective colleges would rather see you do well in the cores at a level appropriately challenging to you.
It sounds like you’re making more out of Capstone than it really is. It is just one way of demonstrating a rigorous course load.
Assuming that dropping out halfway through a 2 year sequence does not result in the GC marking your schedule as anything other than “most rigorous,” colleges likely will not care. You certainly don’t need 11 AP classes in your last 2 years to be competitive. Whether AP Research is the right one to drop next year is unknown to us, since you have not shared your full schedule.
