AP Results on Transcript

I went to the open house, and the dean of A&S said that you get credit for AP results by getting the course it replaces (like AP US History as History 170, 171) on your transcript pass/fail. If you don't make a 4 or 5 on a test, does it go on your transcript as failing, or can you choose not to put it on there at all?

Well, if you don't get a good enough AP grade for them to accept for the course, why would it get put on there at all?

if you don't make a 4 or 5, it doesn't count at all. it won't be on your transcript.
don't worry =D

I see that Vanderbilt's common app supplement asks for AP scores. No mention of "optional".....are AP scores evaluated as part of admissions, or are they just used later for placement? What about those students with a 2 or 3 on one of their APs?

well, on the common app i'd say list the AP scores that you want to...when you send scores to colleges (order via phone), if you request it on the phone, you have the option to cover up the scores you don't like ($10 per test per school).

yea, ap scores are for admission.

after you get in, ap scores are also for replacement. but not much useful

I think I did really poorly on my German exam. Should I risk having it sent to Vandy or cancel the score? Will there be any consequences if I do poorly on it?

you are an incoming freshman right?
don't worry about it.
it doesn't matter at all =D

Covering up AP scores is just giving money to College Board when you really have nothing to lose. So you're not perfect? No one is.

i think there is really no point to cover for graduating seniors. =D
for juniors, if you are applying for Harvard, you might think about that.

speaking of which, i think i failed the econ tests today

Don't worry about that.
it won't affect you at all. and everyone knows we are seniors =D

Don't lose even a second of sleep worrying about the German AP Test. My son scored a 2, his lowest among his 2 scores of 4 and his 1 score of 5. He is doing great at Vanderbilt.

Thanks snajean! That makes me feel much better!
