All of the following questions are asked on the unfortunate fact that I had missed the June 15th deadline to cancel the AP scores for college board.

How would one cancel the scores

Would this still affect which AP Scholar Award you get? or are your scores on AP tests unchangeable for the college board after June 15th.

There’s a difference between score withholding and score canceling.

If your score is withheld, that means that it’s still on your records, but you just don’t sent it to the college you requested your other AP scores sent to. This costs $10 and wouldn’t affect any AP Scholar Awards. You have to do that by June 15 of the year you took the AP exams for it to hold to the college you put on the exam in May.

Then there is actually cancelling a score, which is deleting an exam score permanently from your records. You can do this at any time, but if you do it after June 15 the school you selected on your actual exam will still get the score. Canceling your scores is free. This WOULD affect your AP Scholar award, since the score is deleted permanently and it is as if it never happened.

Personally, if your score is good enough to change whether you get an AP Scholar award or not, that means it’s a 3 or higher and you probably shouldn’t cancel it, since there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a 3. I got two 2s and I still did very well as far as admissions and scholarship money goes, and I was still an AP Scholar with Distinction (I took 7 AP exams in total. When I was in high school, that was considered a LOT).
