AP Scholar Award

I am going to be applying for college this August. I know that if you get a 3 or above on 3 AP exams you get the distinction of being an AP Scholar. I haven’t gotten this award specifically yet, but I am very sure I will. When I apply could I put this down as a distinction and award, EVEN if I haven’t physically gotten it in the mail? I mean, it can’t be LYING, because if I did get 3 3’s on the AP tests, then I am an AP scholar. I heard they come out in september…but I am trying to apply in August…in essence can I just assume that I am one, or do I have to receive the thing in mail to write it down on the application.

Bump!!!

You can put it down.

You are going to list your AP tests and scores anyhow so this “award” doesn’t really tell them anything new. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

It’s not lying, but it’s also not telling the truth - you don’t have the award yet.

List your scores; AO’s are savvy enough to know what it takes to get an AP Scholar award. Having said that, an AP Scholar award will not meaningfully add to your application; it’s about a half step up in prestige from NHS. No big whoop.

You will receive the award in the mail in September. Be patient.

There is no reason to apply in August. It will not help your application to apply that early.

You don’t need the certificate to evidence the award. There is no lying. Back in the day there werent evens certificate. The award is shown on the score report.

You’re really fretting over nothing. “AP Scholar” is as commonplace as “honor roll”. Having it or not having it is of miniscule importance vs. actually being enrolled in AP classes.

Bump

It’s your choice whether to put it on or not- Adcoms will see your self-reported 3s and know you got the AP scholar award.

Also, you said that you would get the AP Scholar Award in September, but on the College Board’s website, it says that you will receive the award in August/late August. Not sure if that affects your application process.

Back when I was in high school award notifications were first sent online.

College Board sent out the Award email today and the Awards are on-line on CB accounts.
