AP Scholar Awards for 2011

Hey, if I’m a national scholar, will I also get an AP scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, and AP Scholar with Distinction certificate?

You only get AP scholar with distinction if you hit national scholar at the same time as the rest. So you get national AP as well as AP scholar with distinction.

Maybe this is me being too proud, but it really annoys me that the only reason I’m not getting AP Scholar with Distinction (4 5’s, 1 4) is because Collegeboard made a mistake and created two separate accounts, one with the four scores of this year and the other with last year’s score -_-.

Don’t be annoyed. fight the system. Get your school to complain and get collegeboard to issue you the certificate.

Sorry since I know this isn’t what this thread is for…

But I’m just starting junior year taking 3 APs (US History, Calculus AB, English Language & Composition). What do I have to do to earn these awards?

Thanks!

The most you can get with 3 APs is AP scholar with honor.

@pmcm You were supposed to call CB a month ago when your scores arrived to merge your two accounts.

@texaspg - I thought you needed 4 AP’s for that.

Do these look good on a college application or do they not even care because they already know your APs and scores?

@TechnoMusic: You do. AP Scholar’s the one with 3.

@prepstudent216: Not really… they just fill in those blank spaces (if you have any) on your app. :)

AP Scholar as a current junior. Yay.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to say… Nothing in OK yet… I think.

Nothing yet in IL, but some of my friends have gotten them which makes me worried. 2 5s, 4 4s.

Haha I just received Distinction & National certificates yesterday, but they’re a tad useless now… ;)

@apnOOb: I did call, I tried calling again yesterday but it was not office hours. I don’t really care that much about the certificate, but it definitely worries me that I might still have two accounts come the time to apply to colleges and submit my AP scores.

Techomusic - you are right. If one took only 3 AP exams, they can only get the first award - AP Scholar.

My D, a Senior now, has 8 APs with 6 5s and 2 4s, and only got the AP Scholar with Distinction, and not the National AP. When I looked at the score reports for past three years, they all had three different account numbers. I am going to complain to CB and school.

@PMCM18 and InvolvedDad, You should be concerned. My D’s scores were not sent to her school. I called CB yesterday and had her accounts merged. The CB representative said the process should take about a week and we should receive her updated certificate in about 2 weeks. She verified all exams taken and advised they would forward all scores to my D’s school. Keep calling until you get a person. She said it was not uncommon that students have different accounts. My D had 3 accounts also, a different one each year.

I got Scholar with Distinction and National Scholar. I don’t know why they sent both.

National AP Scholar (Bermuda)

Hahahaha just kidding! … sort of. I got AP Scholar with Distinction - 5 exams with 4.6 average score. So in the US that’s distinction but in Canada and Bermuda it’s national. I wish there was something between distinction and national especially for students with high average scores whose schools don’t offer 8 APs. Oh well … the certificate was rather lame …

If your students accounts are showing up with different numbers call. Your student earned the designation!! I realized the split in early July when my sons name was spelled wrong on the 2011 report. His scores were therefore rejected by his university. I called, had the error fixed, and had the accounts merged. It’s far more common than you think.

Texas - Got mine in the mail yesterday. AP Scholar with Distinction. Hopefully can move to National AP scholar after this year - taking 6 more tests this year
