AP Scholar awards

@garfieldkiller That’s amazing man! Congratulations :)

Garfieldliker, how many did you self study for and can any of your success be attributed to liking Garfield? Seriously, congrats!

Do you mind me asking how many college credits you will be receiving from your APs?

Son finally received AP Scholar with Distinction today. Apparently, they are not all mailed at the same time.

I just got my AP Scholar with Honors if that helps anyone

I got AP Scholar with Distinction today in California :)

So what is the point for someone to take APs senior year to get a national AP scholar since by then you have already applied and been accepted by colleges by then?

You get college credits and can waive classes. My son earned 36 college credits and waived something like 9 classes.

You can list it on your resume for many things, while you are in college. You might transfer to another college, apply for a undergraduate summer research position, internship, etc.

After you graduate it won’t be that big a deal anymore.

“After you graduate it won’t be that big a deal anymore.”

^ my point. I also already knew that AP credits are used for getting excused from college classes. I was just wondering if I should take an 8th AP class (planned on 7) to get the National AP scholar if most of the schools I’m looking at don’t accept it.

Be careful not to spread yourself too thin. Most colleges require a 4 or a 5 in order to waive a class and count toward credits. If you are not positive you will get at least 4s (depending on what your school allows, some accept 3s), don’t take the extra class.

AP Scholar with Honors. I’m so proud of myself!
Thanks College Board for sending me a certificate I could’ve made myself on Microsoft Word.

Wow! 21 tests garfieldliker? I can’t imagine!! Congrats.

BTW, is anyone else still awaiting the certificate for AP Scholar? By our calculation, D earned it, but nothing in the mail yet. We aren’t surprises since her AP and SAT scored never show up I’m our mail either … Just wondering. Thanks.

You D should receive the AP scores and AP Scholar certificate by now.

We are waiting as well. Will call by end of week if it still hasn’t arrived.

Bump! I just saw my AP scores this morning, and I’m now an AP Scholar with Distinction! I’m going for National AP Scholar next year, as a senior. I am curious though: I have a 4.3 average right now and have taken six exams in total. Next year I will be taking five exams. Suppose I screw up big time (which I hope does not happen) and get scores low enough to knock my average to below 3.5. Does that demerit my AP Scholar award? In other words, if you earn an AP Scholar award, is it possible to lose it in the future, pending AP exam scores that lower your average?

I’m an AP scholar with distinction! Hopefully next year I’ll make National- only need two more 4s and 5s.
