a couple of months ago there was a long discussion about when the AP scholar certificates would be sent. They were delayed because of changes in the rules so that half-year courses count the same as full year courses. Anyway, they've apparently been mailed. We got one at our house today. The number of exams needed for each award level has stayed the same.

I got mine. 3 APs (AP English Lit, AP US Hist, AP Environmental).

I'm glad I got it, since my school offers like 6 APs and I had to self-study two of those three mentioned above (Eng and Hist).

I am not sure why the awards came sooo late. It did really no good for my D to receive it at this point. She is already accepted into the school of her choice.CMU. So what was the point? Not sure.

congrats to your D!
I'm just happy they came, seeing as how I wrote down that I got it on my ED application to Duke :)

Mine came today too! :)

will i get one... chemistry 5, US 4, spanish 2, english 3, worldhistory 5, calc AB 5
average=4, passed 5

Mine came a few days ago ...

Question: have any of you ever been the AP State Scholar? Only one boy and one girl per state ...

Taken that I live in NJ, I'll probably never get it, but I thought it would be interesting to see the stats of the people who have gotten it.

I haven't received anything yet, so i'm a bit concerned.

I think I should be an "AP Scholar with Distinction?"

Euro: 5
US: 5
Human Geography: 5
English Lang/Comp: 4
World History: 4
Music Theory: 3

moocow, you will be an ap scholar with distinction (at least an average of 3 and passed 5 or more tests)

dwintz, you will be an ap scholar with distinction as well

congrats to you both

Excellent. Thanks for the clarification.

thanks a bunch...i know it says on the back of the AP score sheet, but have they revised it? i heard they only revised it to include semester classes and blah blah whatever it doesn't affect me, but have the qualifications changed at all?

nope, qualifications remained the same. The only change was that the supposed "half-credit" courses now count as a full credit towards the awards

most excellent

when will they release the number of people for each award?

The AP Central @ Collegeboard says that it isn't releasing it yet because of the "new" implementation of rules.

lavendardream--my older brother got the AP state scholar award i think, he got National Scholar for sure (not entirely sure but probably)
euro history, world, US, calc ab, calc bc, physics b, c electricity/magnetism, stats, chemistry and biology all 5s
ap lit/language, physics c mechanics, government US, comparative, all 4s
spanish language/spanish lit, both 3s

im having fun following in those footsteps.

Oh goodness, dwintz, that's awesome of your brother ... and that's a LOT of tests.

My brother also took bunches of tests - not nearly as many, though. I think he took 9 or 10 by the time he graduated, and he got all 5s.

But State Scholar ... you need all those tests. Is anyone here attempting lots of tests to try to get State? How many tests?

... I don't think you'll have to worry about competition from me- I think I'll end up doing 10 total ... maybe a few more if I'm feeling ambitious.

well getting state in california has got to be near impossible, but i'll have taken 15 i think--anyone in cali got me beat lol? plus CB announces it too late so it's of no use for college apps unless u get it ur junior year. lame.

if half years are counted as fulls I will have I guess 13 tests, but no way I will get 5's on all of them haha.

These awards are not cumulative right? They are for THAT year? For example, if you took APs as a sophomore, is that added onto your Junior schedule AP's for consideration of the awards?
