AP Scholar with Distinction- What does it mean?

I just received in the mail today a packet from the AP board with a certificate saying I was an "AP Scholar with Distinction." What does that mean? Can I write it on college apps?
Thanks

yes. it means you have at least 5 APs with 3 or above and average 3.5.

OH. Thanks. You’re from texas? Are you in college somewhere?

I am a parent.

Oh! Well I’m from Texas- so excuse my nosiness.

Let me know if you need any help.

AP scholar with distinction means you are probably in the top 2-3% or so in the nation and it is a good honor to have for a college application. Most state colleges will give you waivers or credits for all your classes that meet the honor (3 or greater scores). If you are aiming higher, the credit may vary.

If you get it before you start to apply to colleges, you should definitely put it on the applications.

I think the colleges are starting to tighten up their AP credits policy.

A few years back, the colleges would award 6-8 college credits if full AP exam scores were 3 or higher. Now, even the community colleges would only award 3-4 credit hours if AP scores are 3-4; 6-8 credits if AP scores are 5.

Yeah- the level of schools I am applying to actually only give consideration to fours and fives. And even then, they don’t give you any credit, they actually opt you out of an easy general ed class into an upper level one. So I probably won’t be using my scores, seeing as my fives in the AP exams are not in my major. I don’t want to be opted into an upper level science if I can take something easier and end up with the same credits fulfilled.
