I'm mulling over picking one of the following for next year: AP Bio, AP Chem, or AP Physics. My question is, what skills do each of these AP's emphasize (ie. I'm fairly certain AP Physics is a lot of math)??

Thanks.

I don’t know a lot about physics, but AP Bio is really reading-heavy, and AP Chem is heavier on the math.

Physics is a lot of calculations with a little reading/theory.

Chem is a mix of calculations and concepts.

Bio is a lot of reading and memorizing facts with little bit of calculations.

If you’re up to basic trig then that’s enough for AP Physics B. Physics C is calculus i think. but i would say definitely go with AP Physics B. if you’re willing to read a little bit and pay attention to labs then you’re good. it’s basically all logic.

i’m also doing review tests for AP Environmental Science right now and it doesn’t seem too hard. common sense as well. but APES is a ****ton of reading if you’re willing to put in that much time haha.

overall tho i’d have to say AP Physics B > APES haha

I heard APES is a lot of reading but really easy. I wouldn’t recommend AP Chem (which I’m in right now) unless you’re willing to put in the effort. But then again, that goes for all of them really.

Do whatever you think would be more useful in college and later life. If you want to go into medical, take biology. If you want to be an engineer, take physics. If you want to be a professional blow-stuff-up-er, take chemistry.

If you don’t want any of those, consider not taking an AP science; they’re a lot of work that would be torture if you’re not interested in it.

To add to magiscoder, I’d actually say that if you’re interested in being some kind of doctor, you really ought to take bio AND chem. Chemistry is the weed-out course for most med school hopefuls, so it really help to have had a solid background. Not to say it can’t be done without AP chem, just that it is a good idea to take it.

Physics is seriously the easiest tho. I’d say it requires the least effort out of all the others. (or so it seems so far haha)
