AP Science Senior Year

Should I take AP Bio and AP Physics 1 my senior year? This is what I plan on doing, as well as AP Gov, AP Macroeconomics, Elementary Calc, and NJROTC 4 Honors.

Well, it really depends on what you wish to do when you grow up. Even if you were going into the STEM field, it is not recommended to take two AP Sciences at once as both AP Bio and AP Physics 1 will have lots of work. Especially with a lot of other APs, it will defiantly get tougher. If you really think you can handle it, you love science, and have had amazing grades in sciences in the past, you can go for it, but this is defiantly a warning. It may be a better idea to take only one AP Science or pair it up with another science elective, which is not AP.

Colleges recommend taking at least one year of biology, chemistry, and physics, even more so if you are planning on going into STEM. If you have already taken a year of physics, and you have been persuaded to take only one AP Science, you should pick the one you’re more interested in, and if you have not taken a year of physics, you should take AP Physics 1 rather than AP Bio. If you’re going into the humanities, while it is recommended you take a year of bio, chem, and physics, it’s not required for most cases. However, I would recommend the same strategy I said earlier.

Have a good day!

@anthonytheboy I have taken Physical Science, honors bio, honors chem, and am currently taking AP Environmetal Science. I plan on majoring in political science or economics and attend law school. I am going into the military after college as an officer, and am applying to West Point, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, and The Citadel. I am just trying to get the most college credit to keep costs low and so I won’t have to worry about general requirements. I was going to take AP Physics 1 anyways, but I thoroughly enjoy biology.

@ryanalexander116 Polticial Science? I used to want to major in that. Sweet! Good luck!

From what you told me, however, I think either AP Bio or AP Physics 1 will be okay because you have taken physical science before. I am assuming, however, that physical science is physics/Chem mixed, so please correct me if I am wrong… seeing that you enjoy Bio, I would recommend AP Bio.

Have a good day!

I’d recommend AP Physics1 in that case, and an English class instead of AP bio (all colleges will want to see English or something closely related such as philosophy or speech, senior year.)
