AP Sciences for a Humanities Guy

I'm a humanities guy who wants to get into law or economics in college. Do I need to take an AP in science to be considered taking a "rigorous" courseload in high school? I'm planning on taking AP Econ, AP USH, and IB HL English, and perhaps AP Calculus in senior year, since I do want to do econ. I'm currently choosing between taking AP Chem/Bio and doing a regular Physics class (we don't have honors, which I would be inclined to do otherwise).

I'm the kind of worker who'll do it if it's the difference between a "yes" and a "no", but I wanted to ask if it's worth it, since I'd quite like to put time into my interests and friends outside of school. I don't like science and don't have any interest in a career in science.

I would appreciate any feedback and advice. Thanks all.

I’m a humanities person too, and I actually skipped taking a 4th science class. Granted, I’m only a junior, so who knows how that’ll play out for me.
But anyway, I would say that as long as you have at least 3 (preferably) Honors - level science classes, you should be fine, as that is what nearly all colleges recommend. What humanities AP classes are you taking/have already taken?

I’d highly recommend taking an AP science class of the 3 main ones (Physics, Biology, Chemistry.) You want to be as well-rounded as possible, and tearing through one AP science will be very worth it.

there’s nothing wrong with it. I’m a science guy but I am taking ap history, Spanish, English and advanced math. They sure won’t mark me down for that but if yu can’t handle it, stick to regular

take regular physics, as the three basic sciences are recommended if not required at many colleges for admission.

You should ask your GC what or how many AP/honors classes you need for him or her to check off the “most rigorous” box when they send in your rec. Nobody here can tell you as what box they check will be in context to YOUR school only.

You might like APES, if you haven’t taken that already.

I’ll consider all of this, thanks for your thoughts. I think you might be right, GA2012MOM.

As a late note, I play varsity sports year-round and lead two clubs, so I question whether I’d have time for AP Chemistry. That’s partially why I asked.

Now that Physics B is split over two years, I’d consider taking it because it will probably be the easiest AP science class (APES isn’t as easy as people say) while still challenging.

Actually i was gonna recommend that too. Does your school have AP physics 1? its an intro physics course.

Yeah, we do. I’ll bring it up with the folks.

APES and AP Physics 1 as previously mentioned!
