AP Score a turnoff?

My plan was to apply to a few ivy leagues but now that I think about it, I feel like it just isn't worth it. I am an incoming junior and my sophomore year I took one AP class, AP World History. I scored a 3 unfortunately.

All I would like to know is, should I even try for top schools? Do I even have a chance? And do AP scores play a large role when it comes to applying for colleges?

You are absolutely fine. A majority of colleges don’t care about AP courses to be honest. They’re just nice because they open up your college schedule and make it cheaper. What you want to worry about is your GPA, class rank, and your ACT/SAT scores.

What about colleges like HYP or Stanford? Will they closely look at my AP scores?
