Just curious, does anyone know why the College Board releases AP scores by Geographic area?

Why is AP score access based on my physical location?

We know you are eager to get your 2014 scores, and thousands of students from around the world will try to access AP scores at the same time. To ensure that we don’t overwhelm the score access system, we are providing a location-based schedule for 2014 score access. We appreciate your patience.

Concisely speaking, it’s so the site doesn’t crash.

I know they have to do that but it makes me so sad lol
I can’t access my scores til July 9th while a lot of people can see theirs today.

@pumpkinpatch35 - No one can see their scores today; the first day it opens is July 5th. Plus, you could always use a VPN if you’re desperate for your score. There are actually quite a few apps on the app store - for example, Onavo Protect is supposed to be good (and it’s free).

^ Sneaky, and smart. That’s a good idea.

I feel kind of silly; I looked for an answer to my question on the College Board website and couldn’t find one, so I posted this thread, then went back to CB later on and almost immediately found the “Why is AP score access based on my physical location?” FAQ. Funny how that happens.

There should be another way to accomplish their goal of protecting the system from crashing. Waiting days later than others is unreasonable.

My D used a European VPN and got her scores Sunday night. We’re NJ too, didn’t want to wait until tomorrow!

@picktails how did you do that^

I’ll ask her. She’s in Disney right now with her friends; I’ll post when she gets back to me.

@151Andrew151 - there’s a discussion going on how to access your scores early on the 2014 AP Score Results thread. (Under AP Test Prep on the SAT and ACT tests area.)

I’m in NJ and I could view my AP scores on a mobile device since Sunday without changing the location. So maybe you could try viewing it on a mobile device?

Jay-that would have been a good idea. We are in MD and finally had official access today.
