I received a 3 on my AP Language and Composition test and a 4 on my AP CHem test. The CommonApp does ask to report the scores. Will these scores hurt me? I've heard that they do not matter. I also feel like they do not accurately reflect my performance in the class. Should I report them or leave that blank?

I still think it’s better to report those scores. Note, though, that you won’t get credit for those scores at Penn (they only take 5’s, with the exception of foreign languages, for which they will take 4’s).

Thank you. Also, I’m not going into a field that focuses on English at all really, though I know that there are English requirements at most schools. Will that affect how the 3 on the AP test looks?

@OP: You should report them because if you don’t, they will assume you did not take the test. Not taking the test is WORSE than a 3 or 4. A 4 is actually top notch (A-/B in college) and a 3 is still not too bad!

Thanks. Any other thoughts anyone??
