AP Score Question

I know that after you take an AP test you can "hide" your score for a fee of $10. How do colleges view your hiding AP scores? Like I know you find out your results in the summer and put them on your application, so I don't get what the person quoted below is saying:

"If you're going to somewhere like Cornell and Rice, then you should probably not get a 2 on an AP exam. Just sayin'...

Then again, APs are self-reported, so the college need never know until AFTER you're admitted."

If you put your AP scores on your college admission, then your colleges know your AP scores. What does this person mean when they say colleges don't know until AFTER your admission?

I'm very confused, someone explain this.

it’s like you said APs are self reported. No college I applied to required me to send my actual AP score to them for verification. In fact most colleges say that AP scores are generally not a part of thier admissions process because they are self reported and are not verified until a student is admitted and enrolled.

You can choose to report your AP scores on your applications, or not. You would only submit an official AP report for placement purposes, which would be after appliction and acceptance.

Have you already taken this test?
