i know that UNC requests that we send our SAT scores to the admissions office view collegeboard.. do we need to do the same thing for our APs? because my school lists my AP scores on my transcript...

I don't know, I'm wondering the same thing. I wrote in my AP scores in the application, I don't know if they need proof of that until after we get accepted.

cubsfan is correct. the APs go in via official report from ETS when you've been accepted to your college. at that time, you will be trying to get AP credit, and your scores/ credits will be calculated by your college. the only reason to show anything on your college apps is to show the schools you're applying to that you have/are doing AP work.

So I'm guessing AP Scores are pretty meaningless in terms of acceptance?

as far as i know, and was told, the APs on your transcript show the RIGOR of your high school program, based on what you took, and what your hs offerred. the AP people told us not to waste our money by doing AP score reports at the time of applications. you can go ahead and list them(especially if they're 4s and 5s :) ) on your apps, but the official score reports go to the school you want. we were told over and over, that the AP scores aren't used for acceptance, especially since most kids take quite a few more during senior year. the complete picture of classes and grades go out to the places you apply to after 1st semester of senior year (dec or jan) the AP scores, however happen when you're in somewhere. of course, you CAN spend the money and show scores, but they won't use them then; they want to see you TAKE the classes, tho.

If we don't have good AP scores, should we put them on our application..or just leave that section blank?
My scores were too low to get credit for them anyways.

I fail at testing.

If you have high grades in AP courses but low AP scores, that may suggest that there were generous curves/ easy coursework in that AP course. Reporting several low scores probably won't hurt anything, but it won't help your case either.

But what if I just didn't send them all together?

I think the primary purpose of score reporting is to get credit.
Especially since, on UNC's app, they flat-out ask for your scores anyway. If I were you, Astranger, I would fill them out.

I have a teacher who says that AP scores ARE important to the application because they validate your performance in an AP class. Basically, ditto scuba.

Then again, if they are important to your application, how come UNC doesn't make you send in your AP scores officially along with filling it out informally?

Ugh, if that's the case then that's not good for me.

I do terrible on testing and everything other than my SAT and AP scores are good but I just have a huge problem with never finishing anything on time.

Like for my US AP history exam I only answered 40/80 of the questions (which was stupid on my part...but that's a long story). But I truly knew the course material...I got a 90 in the class and believe me, it was extremely difficult. But all in all, I got a 2 on the APUSH exam.

And for AP english, I didn't finish the multiple choice and all of my essays but I slid by with a 3...

Those are the only AP's I took (my school is small and only offer about two or three junior year)...but anyways.

SO what should I do?

I obviously can't/shouldn't report a 2 and a 3...right?

i believe you can report individual scores for AP. Not for SAT. Ask the college board. If you wait until after the decision it doesn't matter WHAT your score is that you report.
