AP Scores and College Admissions

Basically the AP Chem course at my high school got majorly screwed up this year. Our teacher left halfway through the year because of back issues and he was out for about two months prior to then. We are majorly behind and I know I'm going to do horribly on the AP exam (1, 2, maybe 3 if I'm lucky). One of my friends has already decided she's not taking it. She says that it's better not to take the exam if you know you're going to do poorly because they will hold that against you. I have an A- / A in the class, but my AP exam will not corrolate to my grade. Is it better to try anyway and get a bad score, or just not take it?

Take a practice test. If you cannot pass (>2), don't take it. Colleges will, however, wonder why you took the class and not the exam.
