they are very generous with ap and dual credit

ldinct, many schools require at least a 4 and in some cases, a 5, to earn credit. This is particularly true with the top 20 to 25 schools. Some schools, like Cal Tech, do not honor the AP or IB.

My son said that considering he took so many APs, he would not have applied to any school that did not give him a decent amount of credit.

As for the college classes your son is taking, Alabama should award him credit for them.

Aargh! We give! D is calling now to pay the $8 and get her scores. She wanted to add another class and needs to know if her overrides are still good. The scores will, of course, come in the afternoon mail.

Well they might not have come in the mail but D’s scores / credits are showing up in degreeworks as of today :))))

Where in DegreeWorks are they showing up, because I am not seeing anything.

D’s got total # of credits showing up at the very top where it says “overall credits earned” then farther down next to each area that she’s placed out of it has a green check mark to the right followed by “satisfied by advanced placement.”

nothing in our degreeworks yet, but we got our scores in the mail!

Ditto, nothing here, received in mail last week. Figure we’ll be one of the last groupings, if loaded alphabetically.

Hey SoCal never thought of that we would be toward the end also

I’m in Virginia and have not received my DS’s scores by mail, but they are loaded into DegreeWorks! With the dual enrollment classes and AP, my DS is starting his freshman year with 36 credits!!! Thank you Bama for being sooooo generous! ROLL TIDE!

Nothing in my DegreeWorks either or in the mail.

^^We couldn’t see son’s AP credit on DegreeWorks until we clicked on the “What-If” link on the left side of the Worksheets tab/page . . . and then, once in the “What-If” view, clicked on the “Process What-If” button (blue type in a gray-shaded box). Once we did that, voila! The AP credits appeared.

Hope these instructions are clear enough and the process works for you.

Well, the latest AP test scores are up for my son but not APs from previous years. He’ll have to get on the horn…We have the receipts for having them sent.

All accounted for for DS except for one class - possibility that he didn’t get the grade he needed on it but I’d be surprised. Will have to wait to see the report from AP about that one…

Don’t count your chickens, AL. Son felt he did the best on the test he got the 3 on, so we did a change to his schedule so he could take EN 102. Pleasantly surprised at the scores on the other ones, the tests were brutal, although on most of those, a 3 would have sufficed.

Word of advice. If you’ve already registered at Bama Bound, you may remember some overrides having to be put through for you to register for some classes. We just wanted to change a section of an already registered class this morning, but couldn’t do so because we needed an override. It took us a while, but we finally got someone on the phone to help us with this and son has his new schedule for the fall. So, if you’re going to add/drop classes, especially ones that have prerequisites, you might want to do so during business hours so you can some assistance.

DS has everything accounted for as far as classes he expected to AP out of and so his schedule is fine. I think he must have gotten a 3 on his missing AP (MacroEcon), which will not count as credit until he passes the next class up. Doesn’t really affect anything at this point. :)

Oh, so glad, AL. Was giving you a heads up in case you had to reconfigure your schedule because it was tricky with engineering. If it doesn’t show you’ve taken precalculus, it won’t let you register for certain engineering courses. For some reason, if you’re going right into calc, there’s no notation of you having credit for precalculus, which is the prerequisite for the freshman engineering courses.

That is so awesome that you guys get to take all these different AP courses at your different schools. We’re lucky we got what we did, with the limited choices we have.
Son is looking forward to taking some interesting courses to fulfill his remaining core requirements.

My D’s 2010 AP credits are posted but previous years scores are not on Degreeworks.

TheStudent, were you able to clear up this issue for your son? I’m not sure if D should call the registrar first or college bound.

No. It hasn’t been resolved yet. Son didn’t get to work on it until it was too late Alabama time. I think he’s going to call Bama registrar this morning. Let me know what you find out. I’ll do the same in your direction :)

my sons scores still arent posted. Who would I contact to check on them? I am thinking if they don’t get posted by Friday I might call.
