I attend one of the top public high schools in arizona. however that being said i realize arizona is prolly one of if not the worst school system in the union. however despite this i am still shocked that despite numberous students taking the AP exams we rarely produce a score higher than four usually three. is anyone else in this situation (for example about thirty students took the ap physics exam last year with four scores of four and the rest threes and lower)

lol no but I live in New Jersey. people at my school will look down on kids who get below 5's.

Most of the people in my High School in NC are very lazy and only take AP's just for the name (we end getting 40 people or so signing up for AP's even when most never did touch an honors class prior to their junior year.) I have found that our school produces primarily 1's and 2's; yea, I really love my school as you can tell.

Here are my school's stats:

AP Exam Information (2007)
# students tested = 788

· # of AP exams given = 1,785

· # of subject areas = 31

Exam Score Information (2007)

· # of exams where a score of 5 was earned = 775

· # of exams where a score of 4 was earned = 525

· # of exams where a score of 3 was earned = 276

· # of exams where a score of 2 was earned = 145

· # of exams where a score of 1 was earned = 64

holy crap that many AP takers?!?!? at our school its only like 200 ppl total out of 2000

how do you know your school's stats?

My school forces people into AP classes (5 APs, mostly history ugh, are mandatory ) AND forces them to take the AP exam, so we might have had around 3000 exams administered this year since they added new courses. Since not all people are self-motivated and most had senioritis, I suspect around 40% of the exams will be below a 3

All my friends passed their AP exams. Not many get 5's though.

In my school barely anyone even takes AP classes. That being said, my AP World teacher this year is bragging about how one of her kids got a 5 on last years AP exam.

I just moved here so I was basically laughing my ass off on the inside..

Wow. Well my school is strange ish. We expect 5s on APUSH, AP Bio, AP Calculus AB/BC. Few people get 5s on Chem, computer science AB, or music theory. All the rest are randomly distributed, mostly based on the personality and talent of the individual student.

In my school, most people don't pass certain exams: physics B, US History, and Music Theory. Music Theory was offered 2005-2006, but it won't be offered again for a few years

Personally, I got a 4 in US History and a 3 in AP Bio. Usually, a few people get a 5 on US History. This year no one got a 5 on the test(most likely b/c the teacher was gone for part of the year).

my school:

10 subjects

9% 3 or higher ( 0% 4 or 5)
68% 2
23% 1

We take about 2000 tests each year and pass 66% of them, top 100 ranked public.

In my class of 400 ppl, usually only 5% take AP's. =

Of that, only mabye 2-10 ppl get 5's or 4's.

Suburban laziness

25 subjects here; more than 70% of students get >3. I don't know how many students took how many AP exams; I do know that we have a small group that takes as many as 14 apiece, which are usually the top 50 students in each class, so I am sure this is why the figure is so high.

lmfao I just found out how stupid my school is.

Last year, NO ONE in the AP English course I'm taking this year got above a THREE...

rofl @ these stupid idiots in Hawaii

AP Chemistry has the lowest percentage of people who get above a 3 on them, but it's still 80%.

llpitch, what school are you going to?

My school in Hawaii is a public school, and we get nearly 100% 5s in AP Physics B, AP Chem, AP Calc AB, and AP Calc BC. The previous APUSH teacher would receive nearly 100% 5s as well. For example, this year, only two people didn't receive a 5 in the AP Physics B (a 4 and a 3). The previous year, only one person didn't get a 5 in AP Calc AB (a 4).

I'm guessing the prviate schools are far more impressive, with Iolani probably boasting nearly 100% 5s.

bio: no one passed
euro: 5 passed
u.s.: 3 passed
(this is out of my school)

About 100 people at my school took bio this year. I only know two people that got a 5, but I only know the scores of about 10 people, so that's pretty good so far....
