AP scores cancelled...need help

This is astonishing.

Did you just find out about this? Having a fire drill during a makeup exam wouldn’t be enough to cancel scores would it?

we were on the news in case anyone is interested…

Hmm, I’m going to have to agree with the most recent comment about the newscaster.

But I really don’t know why so many parents are angry about this. It’s an unfortunate situation, but what the hell are they going to do about it? If the student did well in May, he/she should be able to get back to that level of performance pretty quickly in July/August.

@314159265: That is absolutely false. Time and time again, timing makes a big impact. That is why the CollegeBoard stresses continuously taking SAT-II (subject exams) right after finishing the relevant course material, not months or even a year later. Same with AP courses! Will you remember all the details about World, U.S., or European History one, two, or three years after the AP Exam? A majority of us won’t…even if you will. Why do you think the prep-books are a million dollar industry? One word: cramming.

Sorry if I sound harsh in this post, but that is the reality of our society at hand.

Of course not. However, if you’ve already learned the details once, it’s much easier and faster to pick them up the second time around. If you play an instrument, you probably know what I mean. It’s much more simple to re-learn a piece than it is to learn it from scratch.

@314159265: I can agree to that (being able to pick the material up again). I’m just saying that small details often found on these tests are things I don’t remember after the exam/course passes away. General concepts and information I tend to remember, however.

And I’d think that general concepts and information is enough to pass the AP exam. With a couple days (or a week) of review to pick up the small details, I don’t see how most students would be less ready than they were in May.
