If I take 3 AP's Senior year and get straight A's do I still have a chance for a decent university?

Thanks

define “decent”

although it seems that unfortuanately exams don’t actually count for much =/

Short answer: not much

AP scores are usually used by colleges to confirm that the AP classes at your school are worth something and not just some monkey class labeled “AP”.

However, grades still do come first, and that’s what get people into college.

As the posters above have mentioned, AP scores play a minimal role in your college admission. Doing well on an AP exam is a sign that you have learned the material well. If your school is similar to mine, AP teachers do not formulate their classes to distribute A’s to the majority of students, therefore, in many subjects, students with B’s, C’s, or even lower can receive 5’s with little preparation.

In order to further evaluate your chances, it would be necessary to give us an accurate picture of where you stand in your class. There are many schools that have vals with gpas around 3.4 or 3.5. If the grades you have received are still higher than the vast majority of your class, you’re still in the running.
