Obviously I know they probably don't matter if you only have a few. But say for a school like Georgetown, if you had 14 AP scores(8 5's, 3 4's, 3 3's) and an AP state scholar award, could this possibly make up for a relatively lack luster high school record(1420 SAT, 3.5 UW GPA)?

If I had a 3.8 - 4.0 first year at a reputable university in a reputable program in the D.C area along with the stats mentioned above and a fairly active first year EC record, would this at least put me in the running for Georgetown? Should I retake the SAT(I really don't want to).

Georgetown, Oxford, and LSE are the only schools im realistically considering for transfer and if I don't get into those schools(and quite possibly even if I do) I think I will stay at my university unless i absolutely hate it, which is doubtful.

i would definitely say so!! those AP scores are quite impressive!!

however - the college statistics you give - are these predicted, or actual? in other words, are you a rising college freshman or sophomore? if you're going to be a freshman, and are predicting these statistics - i have two words of advice:

1) college is very, very different from high school; it's hard to predict now how you will do.
2) don't think about transferring now. wait to see how you actually FEEL at your school - there's a good chance it might surprise you, and you will love it, or at least like it and not really want to switch. if you go there with the mindset that you will want to transfer, i guarantee that that will influence your attitude towards the school. (i'm speaking from experience here... well, sort of. i really never thought i would ever transfer, but i wasn't really happy about where i was going, and that was certainly a factor, but far from the only one, for why i am now transferring).

Best of luck to you!!!

yeah the college grades are predicted and i know they probably are going to be very tough to get, but i will work my ass off for those grades, and I seriously mean it. I think worst case, unless i have a serious problem adapting, I should get a 3.5 and that would definitely be a worst case scenario. My AP scores from junior and soph year were 5,5,5,5,4,3 and im predicting 5,5,5,5,4,4,3,3 this year(maybe 1 2 instead of a 3) and the high school GPA and SAT are real. Regardless, im not going into this year expecting to transfer, im just keeping the option open. Obviously if i don't get the numbers, I will not even consider transferring to a school like Georgetown.

You can't transfer to any UK school. You can only
1)study abroad for a year while still registered with a US school who gives you credit.
2)Enroll in the first year with no transfer of credits. (apply through www.ucas.com)

UK schools have no concept of transfer. they don't know what it is.

when i said "transfer" i meant applying as a first year after 1 semester of school in the states.
