AP scores on application

Hi, I was wondering how much AP scores matter during the application process.
Does it count against the applicant if he or she doesn't do that well on the AP test eventhough he or she performed excellent in the actual class?
I'm asking this because I did not receive the scores I wanted on the AP tests: I am not the best standardized test taker.
Will it count against me, or am I even allowed to not submit my AP scores at all? I am so ashamed of my scores. I am afraid that the admissions people will think that there was a grade inflation in my class. I've worked very hard in every one of my classes, and exceled in every one of them. I just don't know what gets into me during these standardized tests.

It would be great if I could hear from Admissions Daniel as well.
thank you.

I believe I'm correct when I say that colleges don't even bother with your AP scores until you're accepted and you're placing out of certain classes. They will be much more concerned with the number of APs you have taken and the grades you have recieved in those classes.

Thank you so much for the reply. You have made my day.
It is not that I can't trust you, but could you by any chance tell me the sources for your claim? I'm sorry if I seem ungrateful; it's just that I need valid proof in order to completely settle me down.

Im a UVA student, class of 2010....i got a 2 on AP Physics (sad sad day hahaha) and I got in out of state....its true, they don't care about your grades on your AP tests, they DO care about how many and your grade in the class though

Do yo have to report it if you get a low score? I thought it was optional.

if you release 1 AP u release them all, you cant pick and choose anymore

it doesnt matter though

I THINK you're allowed to withold a test score for $10 each..Which is what I was planning on doing, but I may be wrong, I still have to check on it.
