Also, be sure to check if your high school lists AP scores on the transcript.

Do most high schools show the score? I found my transcript had a mistake (wrong year). I think the high school should leave it to the student.

Thank you all for answering. My daughter’s school does not report AP scores (or SAT scores for that matter) on the transcript. What if we cancel the score with Collegeboard? Then would we not have to report it? I just don’t know how big of a deal it is to have a 1 on your record…

Yale uses the Common Application - which asks you to list AP scores. They don’t tell you about other tests on the website either, but the Yale supplement suggests including things like AIME scores.

As for the OP, given that the AP Bio score is from her freshman year, I don’t think it will do her any great harm, though it obviously might cause the admissions committee to wonder about the quality of the AP course.

As I stated earlier, I understand that Common App asks you to list AP scores, but that is the characteristic of being Common App (which is the superset of all the requirements). But the question is, does Yale requires you to list any or all the AP scores? Most schools also state that AP scores are optional. If someone is going to call me a liar or maybe just simply dishonest, is it too much to ask that one states clearly what one wants?

I agree with mathmom, the 1 score from freshman year should not hurt your chance. To me, freshman is way too early to be tested on material that most normal students learn in college.

There is no reason to withhold scores for a fee. By the time you have to send the official report, the scores are only used for placement/credit, and a bad score will not make any difference.

You can debate whether it’s worth it to report a score of 3. I can see no reason what so ever to report a 1, unless a college specifically requests all scores to be reported.
