AP Scores Post Mortem

So the test has been taken, and the scores have rolled in. How are you guy's feeling about it? Any thoughts at all are welcome.

I feel like I’m the man, which is exactly how I felt before the scores came.

They’ve rolled in?

I didn’t realize that AP Exams had such a generous curve… ;]

they didn’t actually get to NJ yet. i called in to get my scores.

They’re still out there on the West Coast right now, haven’t made it to our side yet.

I got my 5. All is well :)

although I called, the scores aren’t in the midwest yet either…

Some have incredibly generous curves. For BC Calculus, 40+% of students get 5s, and I’ve heard that this requires something like a 60%. Other tests (Latin Literature, back a few years ago) had only about 8% of students obtain a 5. It varies based on the test, essentially.

Think about who take BC calc though and why the AB average isn’t so high. I mean, the 5 rate for AP Chinese is like 80%, do you think that’s because it’s easy?

Anyway, my scores are still being withheld pending investigation. lol

aigiqinf…seriously? You’re the culprit? ;o

Yes. And what do you mean I’m the “culprit?”

Wow! Lucky! I’m in Pennsylvania, slowly waiting for my scores…

I’m so happy with my AB Calc score. I’m so pumped for no math in college :D

@aigiqinf

That’s not necessarily the case, though. I have to question the validity of any exam that gives me a 5 without my possessing any real understanding of the material (Physics C E&M). Certainly the people who would take BC vs. AB are generally better at math, but quite a few are doing it for college (which of the two would look more impressive, after all?). One could get a 4 on the exam with absolutely no understanding of integrals (although it requires perfection with derivatives and related topics, and if you’re capable of that, chances are you got some of the integral questions right). After looking at how my classmates treated AP exams and the success they had despite any preparation or courses on the material, I question the validity of the exams for their supposed purpose, since one can do quite well merely by being a good test taker and knowing how it’s scored where equivalent work would actually be failing in a classroom.

Ah, of the “rachaelcliffordisabeotch” tag on this thread that I’ve also seen elsewhere. Unless you aren’t. lol…

No idea what you’re talking about…

Well, I made a 3 on APAH without reading the textbook so I see your point. But I’ll wait to see what I got this year. I’m estimating 1’s and if I made 3’s I’ll be very suspicious.

Er, okay. awkward Then I’m sorry.

I’m ecstatic about Calc BC and think my score is amazing. My teacher told another student that I had actually seemed to get all of it there at the end, and my practice tests were around the score I got, but I really thought I would fail it.
Art Hist and human geo were as to be expected. If they had been any different, I would have been devastated.
Eng Lang was devastating. I know I can probably get credit for it still, but I hate it.
