how about you look in the prep book thread or use the search option.

hi,
do any of you guys know if you have to do AP Physics B before AP Physics C? Or is it like doing calc before algebra? I'm trying to go for the Siemens AP award, but I'm worried about not having enough slots in my schedule to take both courses. Many thanks in advance for any advice.

man, i knew i shouldn't have drunk all that alcohol the morning before the tests. even tho i didn't drink on Comp sci day

I was kinda proud of my physics score before I came here... you guys are nuts!

i think i still have a chance at MIT though

Cooljoe: I took B and C at the same time. It's not necessary to take B before or concurrently, but it's VERY helpful.

Do you have to have taken normal chemistry before AP Chem in 10th grade? Does it really help that much?

My son is self-studing micrc, macro and stat. and planning to take the AP exam coming may.

It REALLY helps to have some chemistry before ap...i personally took a summer class during the summer after freshman year and I still found the class to be tough...Definitely one of the more challenging APs (especially if you are doing it in a single period like we had to do).

Yep, I took the Chem AP in 10th grade with only 1 year under my belt and it was ridiculously hard. I managed to pull off a 4, but I would definitely recommend 2 years. I was able to do bio in one but chem is just a lot of material (I had to self study Bronsted Lowry and most of the acid/base things and equilibrium)... so 2 years is a better route.

Do you think it would be enough if I just read the Idiot's Guide to Chemistry or Schaum's Outlines over the summer?

hahaha the idiots guide to chemistry. I tried using that to help me through AP chem. I ended up tossing it after the first quarter. There is no substitute for a class.
