Hi, I’m new to cc and have been looking at various threads but am still clueless to what I should do concerning self-reporting scores.
I earned AP Scholar with distinction and have taken 7 AP courses sophomore and junior year-- earned all 5s except for APEC(3) and AP Chem (2). I’m applying to top tier universities and I know that AP scores can still be considered.
Should I report only the scores I feel are a reflection of my academic rigor (5s and possibly the 3) or just list all, including the failing score?
I would n to list the failing score. Whether you want to list the 3 is up to you. It will not impact the admissions decision one way or the other, IMO.
I wouldn’t list anything below a 4 for top colleges. Top colleges are only going to give placement for scores of 4 or 5 anyway, depending on the school policy and the course.
While true, (and for really top colleges, they won’t give placement/credit for less than a 5), I would hope than an applicant will have a couple of safety/match schools where they will give credit for a 3. I’m not a big fan of trying to create different versions of the application to send to different schools - that’s how mistakes happen. That’s why I suggest listing anything 3+. Of course, if most of an applicants scores are in the 3 range and is applying to HYPMS, then I might advise differently. But for one 3 - it won’t matter.
They will still give you credit if it is not on app.
