I'm done with my application, and I was about to submit it until I got a notification that I will have only completed 56 units out of the 60 required by the end of Spring.

I was under the impression that my AP scores would grant me additional units to be put towards my overall transferable unit requirements. (I passed AP Statistics, Spanish, and Biology in high school.) My counselor said that these extra units would be apart of my 60 transferable units, but they aren't counted in my application; only the 56 units of courses I took are considered.

Should I submit the application even though it says I don't meet the 60 unit requirement? Will the units granted from my AP tests matter later on? I'm very confused and worried and wondering what I need to do.

Thanks for any of your help!

For my sake and your sake I asked the Berkeley Rep --- she ususally awnsers back quickly! I will tell you the awnser when I get it :). I am in the same position.

Thanks for your reply. I was so ready to turn in my app until I got that message! Now I'm all worried and anxious, but I'd like to hear what your UCB rep has to say, even though I'm not applying there.

But based on my knowledge you did not put the classes the CC gave to you for your APs in the "Coursework" Section. I did not either, I was told not to. Therefore, it does not read any of those units and then you find yourself under the 60 unit limit. But when the reps get it they will see that you have completed a certian amount of APs and give you the units the University offers NOT the units that the CC offers. So I think you should not worry...

Yes, that was another thing I was worrying about. I didn't know about duplicate credit when I first enrolled in CC, and so I took a course to fulfill the biological science requirement for IGETC that would have been exempted by my AP Bio test. Anyway, I did include that in my "Coursework" section, but now I'm thinking about removing it.

The whole duplicate credit thing is quite confusing. I wish I knew more about it.

I beleieve you receive the units from the class that you took and not from the Ap test, in other words you dont receive units for both. And you have to report all the classes you took at the CC, including those that would give duplicate credits. And you still have to report the AP test in the "Test Results" Section.

Your AP units will be added when evaluated at the UC campuses. Be sure to list the scores correctly since the official scores will be due in July. The application does not add the units to its count and warns you of the unit shortage. If you are unsure of you unit count, please contact an admissions adviser at the campus you are attending to make sure.
