Does self studying APs actally help to get into colleges like Johns Hopkins University? I was just kinda wondering if the time was worth it....

depends on your school… If you take 2 ap’s as a sophomore, then like 4 as a junior and 5 as a senior, there is really no point in self studying unless your high school does not offer a particular ap course that you are interested. If you are planning to take over 8 ap classes that time can be better spent in your ec’s. On the other hand if your school does not offer lets say any ap’s to sophomores, 4 as a junior and 4 as a senior. You might want to pick up 2 or 3.

So like would this be worth the self studying or what?

Sophomore year:[ul]
[]AP Euro
[]Environmental Science (self)
[]Psych (self)
[]Human Geo (self)[/ul]

Junior Year:[ul]
[]AP English Language/Composition
[]AP United States History
[]AP Physics C
[]AP Chem
[li]World History (self)[/ul]
[/li]

Senior Year:[ul]
[li]AP English Literature and Composition[/li][]AP US Government/AP Comparative Government
[]AP Calculus BC
[]AP Statistics
[]AP Biology
[]AP Latin[/ul]

*Senior year no plans of taking the AP tests just taking the classes

Why not take the tests in senior year? Although your scores won’t improve your app any (unless you take a gap year), they can allow you to skip some entry-level courses in many colleges.

^Well it depends on who says yes to me but anyway can anyone else please answer the original question?

Bump please express your thoughts

BUMPS!! Come one just one more person please

OK, I’ll try to help you. But I’m confused, I think I remember you from a prior thread. Are you the 3.5 GPA, 2400 SAT Harvard aspiring AA who wants out of Oklahoma, and hates Rice?

If so, I thought you were a senior.

Maybe a case of mistaken identify.

But anyway, I’ll try to help, but first, please clarify if I’ve got the right person and what year you are in school.

^I am a senior I self studied and I was just kinda reflecting and seeing if it was actually worth the time.

You show an impressively rigorous course load, and the self studied APs add to it. You ask a good question, though, about how much those will help you.

It’s hard to know. I think they will help because they show commitment. I’m assuming they aren’t on your transcript, so how did you let your colleges know? Did you take the exams and report the scores?

Where did you end up applying?

I think you’ll end up with some very good options.
