in the past, I've received an AP score that I am not so proud of. Is it absolutely mandatory for me to send in that score to the college? At this point, is there any way I can erase my undesired score?

if u took an AP class, and dont report the grade, colleges will assume u skipped out on the exam (bad) or got a one on it (also bad)

If you got a 2 on the exam, you might as well suck it up and report it

If you are like many CCers who are concerned that a 3 will ruin there shot at any prestigious school, realize that a 3 isn't like a black mark, and report it.

if you got a 1, its up to you. They'll assume you didn't take the test, or that you got a 1 anyway. If it were me, I would come out and say it, because i feel like it is a good quality to be able to admit your mistakes. trying to hide things from adcoms will not make things better

You can't erase the score.

There are two different circumstances under which you'd report the score:

First, if the application specifically asks for exams written, it would technically be wrong to not report the score. However, they wouldn't hold it against you if you didn't report a score now and then they saw it later on. They wouldn't check it or anything. Instead, it would be a moral choice. Would you feel like you were lying if you chose not to report it?

Second, if the application does not specifically ask for AP grades, but you decide to add it under "optional information" or something, then it wouldn't be wrong at all to not include the bad grade.

aps arent all that important on a whole, at least not for me. i'm at nyu and i never took any aps at all, and here i am, and admitting ur mistakes is NOT a good idea in the college process.

do all college applications require you to write down all AP scores? somehow i heard that they don`t look at that until later... maybe i was wrong.

No, not all colleges ask for AP scores. Only a few do, like Yale, Harvard, and MIT.

oh, psh. of course the elite colleges would ask. anyone know about UCs?

yea the UCs have like 12 spaces for the AP grades.

im in a similar situation. i didnt take the ap french lit class and so i basically selfstudied it without studying at all. horrible decision. i got a 2.

now im really taking the calss at a new high school and im going to take it (pretty sure of myself this time). what am i supposed to do now? i think i might have sent the scores to some colleges. im an idiot.

yeahh does anyone know how the UC's feel about an applicant not reporting a crappy AP test grade? (i got a 1 on physics) Should I report it, and then, somewhere on my PS, have a segment explaining this poor score, report it and not say anything on my PS, or not report it at all? btw, I received a 3 on English and a 4 on US history

whoever said you can't have them removed is wrong, you can pay like $15 (and then i forget if it's once, or per score, or per score per report) and the grade is erased. Ask your counselor what to do, that's their job.

after June 15th or something its too late if you asked them to send it to that college.

I agree with brassmonkey52088. I think it's better to just report it.
