Hi, I am new to this site and the college admissions process and was wondering about the importance of AP scores. Is it true that AP scores don't carry much weight in college admissions (I'm talking Top 20 schools)? I have searched a couple of threads and have noticed that there have been mixed answers about this topic.

By and large the ACT and SAT are the tests used to judge you for admission. The AP tests were never designed as admissions tests, and are usually only sent to colleges AFTER they accept you to determine how many credit hours you receive. You can definitely try listing them somewhere on your resume if you think they’ll look “impressive” to the person reading your application; but there’s no promise from anybody that they will do anything to help you get in.
