I am going to be applying to college in the fall, and my first choice is the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. I took the AP Chem and Macro exams in the spring and didn’t do as good as I had hoped (3 on both). Would it make a difference if I did not put these scores in my application, because they will see I took the class still just not my score? Or do you think it will look worse if I do not send the scores?
How many AP scores do you/will you have at the time you apply? How many AP classes are you taking as a senior?
I am taking 3 as a senior so I will have 5 total
If you were my kid I’d advise not reporting any score. But, I don’t have your entire admissions profile and am not familiar with your HS profile either to give you particularly accurate advice. If you were my kid, with my kid’s profile, at a typical suburban HS, I would advise to not report. You should discuss your reporting options with your GC.
I would call the admissions office of the first choice school you are applying to. Especially now, July, before Common App opens now Aug 1. DS called yesterday and discussed his 4 on one test and 3 on another. They were very kind and transparent. They explained they don’t look at the AP scores at all for admissions. They consider them once accepted for those who want credit or placement.
