Is it necessary to send an official score report from CB?

Not until you matriculate.

i believe you have to send ap scores, especially because Princeton asks for them in your application. It is just like SAT scores, because Princeton still expects official reports to come in for all subject tests/reasoning.

pk is wrong. sorry, you just are. call them.

You don't need an official AP report.

clen you sound very sure. ill take your word for it.

but wat if someone lies about his/her AP scores in order to strengthen their candidacy? do they simply check and verify ap scores after matriculation?

How do you send AP scores anyway?

ya i already sent the ap scores, and P'ton said it was fine. i guess it doesn't really matter.

jon, you need to call them or fax/mail them that you want your scores to be sent. you also need to include codes for the colleges

its actually a relief i guess that i don't have to send to my other 14 schools

It's simple to send in your scores if you're taking AP tests senior year. The AP tests have a space to fill in where you want your scores to be sent. This service is free.

If you lie about your AP scores to enhance your application, you can expect them to rescind your acceptance lol .

In short, don't lie =)

Princeton Admissions would prefer you to send official AP scores, however, if you do not then it won't hurt you. Scores should be sent in the rare cases that you earned a low grade in a class, and yet you earned a 4 or 5 on an AP exam. Also, you do not even need to put all your scores. I put down only my 4's and 5's --not so many of them--and it was still fine (meaning I got accepted). They don't look at AP scores as strictly as SAT or SATII scores.

--Good luck

there we have it, from a guy named apfreak lol

I just called the Princeton admission office today. THEY DO NOT REQUIRE US TO SEND AP SCORES!!!!! They said that the scores are self-reported (i.e., on the application). So there's your answer. Eventually they'll see them if you get in, but you don't need to send them an official score report.

ummmm jon, we've already established that...

No, you said that they would prefer it, and that's not what Princeton admissions communicated to me. In any case, it is official word, so thus I'd be confirming it.

Why would they want them anyway? I mean, AP isn't meant for college admissions, it's for course placement. And the USNews does not take into account AP scores, so the colleges really don't care if they have an official copy or not.

It is used in admissions, because it legitimizes your actual grades. It's a national standard that admissions officers can use to guage how good a student is compared with other people who have taken the same class.

jon, i don't wanna say anything negative to you, but just make sure you read all the posts, not just initial ones...

Thank you jon!

He actually went and confirmed it; pk, don't be so hard on him. There's so much hearsay on the internet that it's good if someone could actually establish something first hand...

thanks oasis...i had been following this forum very closely, actually, and when no one actually had official word from Princeton, I called them, and posted what they said here. So, I just gave confirmation...that's all.
