This may be a silly question, but do official AP scores need to be sent to Yale for SCEA...or even RD, for that matter?

nope.

10 chars.

Thanks! Just wanted to be sure.

no, ap scores do not affect your admissions and are solely used to help you get out of a few freshman classes if you were to get accepted and attend the school

I would not go that far. I think they're a pretty serious factor in admissions. 5/5/5/5/5/4 is a lot more impressive than 5/4/4/3/3. AP tests are, by and large, very good tests of content.

yeah, but you don't send in your official ap scores until mid-july (there's a check at the bottom of your testing stuff for seniors only that asks if you want your scores sent to your college)

and my counselor even told me that ap scores have no impact on admission since the college doesn't have the official scores from college board (you may list them in your application, but like all standardized tests, if the college doesn't have the official scores, then they should not affect admissions)

I sent Yale my official scores (4s and 5s). Could that be beneficial to me in the admissions process?

^No. They trust their applicants to tell the truth. However, the scores themselves may help you get in. The act of sending them, though...not so much.

I entered the scores into the common app but didn't send the official score report. I was actually having trouble finding the score reporting service on collegeboard for APs, although I have already sent Yale my SAT/SAT II score report.

They're going to trust that you sent the right scores. If you lie, they're going to have reason to kick you out of the school. AP scores are a great metric - it'd be strange not to use them.

ohhh ap exams. During my us hist one I slept through my alarm and barely arrived before they locked the doors, got a paper cut 5 minutes into the exam, bled all over the paper, and had to leave to throw up during the DBQ.

^ sounds like you has a rough time

Don't worry, I had no intention of lying about my AP scores :P
Thanks again for everyone's input :)
@grc061390 - oh my. o_O
