AP Scores?

With AP exams starting I was just wondering if BU looks at how you did on the exams. If you think you did really poorly on a particular exam would it be a good idea to cancel the score or does it not matter?
Thanks

Don’t worry about AP scores. They’re literally just extra credit. If you do well in them, it makes you look good and you could get out of taking certain classes, or even finish college early and save money; However, if you don’t do well there’s nothing to worry about, you simply don’t get any credit for them.

Some tests require higher scores for any type of credit than others, and the credits yielded may be more or less generous depending on the exam (or your major). Make sure you check BU’s website for AP score requirements.

Is there a list of what scores I need to qualify for advanced credit for 2009/2010? I could only find this one http://www.bu.edu/admissions/files/library/media/advanced_credit_guide.pdf</a> for 2008/2009

Gee, if I’m not mistaken the 2008-2009 school year is still going on.

What do you mean, Lergnom??

The scores for credit are 99.9% likely to be the same this year to next.

And if they aren’t, then you’ll find out when they post the chart for next school year. It’s not something you can control, nor is there some hidden material floating around. It is what it is. And from what I know, BU is quite generous in giving credit.

i don’t think doing poorly will detract from anything. however, BU is super at giving credit for AP scores, i think i came in almost a year ahead of my class because of taking a few AP courses in high school. some AP scores are equal to two courses here at BU, so it’s a good way to get rid of pesky required electives! take even if you think you’ll do poorly, most departments give credit 3/4+ scores.

One of my kids got 28 credits. That’s 1 class short of an entire year.

can a prospective double-major place out of say Intro Pysch and Intro English with a 4 or 5 on AP exams. i really want to skip the huge intro classes. does this work and how does it differ if you want to be in the core curriculum?
