AP scores

ok say you are already accepted.. and your recent AP scores aren't that hot..will that affect your acceptance? not hot meaning 3/4.. i just took my Ap test and I'm worried :(

3/4’s are considered passing or good. You shouldn’t be worried at all.

ahh if I get that though, I’m not only scared about my acceptance but also my teacher!!! i would be so ashamed if I don’t get a 5 because my teacher EXPECTS me to get a 5 and it will be so shameful if I dont… pressure… i hate it :(

im getting a one in calc and im not worried if anything its just for placement plus you can opt not to have your scores sent to penn

i got a 3 and three 4s and I got in. don’t worry about it.

do AP scores count for a lot when you apply? say you have like 2’s 3’s and 4’s. does it weigh much when your app is getting looked at??

Yeah, I am in the same situation! Do bad AP scores really hurt in one’s application?

I’m sure they have some weight during the admissions process but once you’re in it shouldn’t matter because they don’t look at the grades unless you send them.

technically, they arent supposed to consider AP scores when you apply. a lot of people dont even have AP classes available for them to take. they honestly wont care… its only good for placement

I thought you needed at least a 3 for a university to accept them?

hey PennGrl so are you not gonna send your AP score?

I just talked to a dean’s representative down here in CA… and she said they don’t even look at AP scores until later. Same with Duke, and select other schools. They DO, however, use them for placement and to give you appropriate credit hours if applicable. All in all, do your best, aim for a 4 or 5, and don’t sweat it.

soo they look at AP scores until later… haha it would be tragic if they find out that you got a 1 on an AP exam when you’re already enrolled and decide to throw you out… i hope that’s not possible.

I think that there are a lot of placement exams at Penn that you can take if you didn’t do well on an AP exam (I read that somewhere).

they wont rescind you for a bad score on an AP test.

Harvard looks at them.

well i think im doing well on all my other exams so i am sending in my scores its not as if theyll rescind me for one bad grade on a placement exam.
dont stress over it. =]

dunbar,

who cares about harvard?
