AP Scores

I did poorly on some.
Do the colleges see all the APs you have taken and their scores, or can you choose what to show them?
Also, is anything under a 5 on APs when applying to Ivy League really helpful?

You don’t send colleges your official score report via college board until the summer before you start college–after you know where you’ve been accepted. Colleges will not rescind your acceptance because of a low AP scores (unless you said you got a high score when you actually got a low score…you know, don’t lie). Listing AP scores on your college apps is optional–for any given score, you can list it or you can not list it. You have the option of showing them only your favorite scores.

What scores you list is entirely up to you. I listed all 5s and 4s on my college apps (I had mostly 5s on math/science; 4s on humanities). I didn’t get into any Ivies, but I did get into Caltech and MIT. I probably would not list any 3s or lower.

I probably wouldn’t list a 4, but it’s up to you. If you have very few 5’s, you might want to list your 4’s yourself.

You list them on the apps, like lidusha said, and I think you can omit bad ones for most colleges, however sometimes they might not want you to.

Feel free to be honest. APs do not play a huge role in admissions. If you had a couple 3s, it is not the end of the world. 4s and 5s look better, but still do not matter all that much. Colleges care more about taking the class.

ummm What if the AP’s were self studied?

Last year I took a Pre-AP Physics class, but it was free for me to take the AP Physics B test so I chose to do so. I wound up getting a 3 on it, and was wondering whether or not I should put it on my application. If I do, do any of you think I should add that I wasn’t actually in the AP Physics class?
