AP Self-Study

I’m considering self-studying an AP… so I have just a few questions:

If I want to take an AP exam in May, when should I start studying? Is it too late?

What books do you recommend? And what are the hardest/easiest AP exams?

Thank you :)

Haha, no, it's not too late. In my opinion the easiest science ones are bio and environmental science. I self studied and got 5's on both of those last year. I only started the week before, and crammed like crazy. If I start too early.. I forget everythign anyway. I used Princeton Review and Kaplan. I usually use like 3 just to get variety..hahaha.

The foreign language ones are hands-down the hardest to study for; there's no way you can learn and internalize all of the vocabulary without teacher assistance unless you're a native speaker. Econ and Government are pretty easy because the material is light, and Computer Science is easy if you know computers. But you can cram for anything if you set your heart to it; one of my friends did a two-day plan for European History(!) and got a 4. Go figure.

I kind of doubted it was too early to start studying, haha. I'm pretty sure our library doesn't have AP exam study books, so hopefully my parents will buy them for me. Thanks for the advice!

bumppppppp

APBiology: Cliffs Notes will do the trick.
APEuropean: Viault's Modern European History should be good.
APUSH: REA's review book

Good luck.

For APUSH, I like AMSCO. It is really easy to understand considering my very low CR SAT score.

What about AP Physics B? I can't take any physics at my school for various reasons.

Ap Stats is supossed to be really easy.

Our math department is pushing for an AP Stats class because there are no AP math courses available as a senior, unless you skipped a grade in math. Hopefully it'll be a course by the time I'm a senior.

How hard is it to self study Chem if I start now?

AP Chem is very hard-but I'm sure it's in by no means undoable if you have the patience, the time, the energy, AND YOU START NOW!!!!;)

To my knowlege, AP World History, Enviro Science, Human Geog and Psychology are the easier ones.
Foreign Languages (especially the Literature ones), Chemistry and Physics are pretty tough.

It really depends what you're good at..are you a math/science or a humanities person?

but what's easier: AP World History or Human Geog or Psychology? i have the same problem as crimson ;). Our school doesn't offer any APs.

which ones are the "easiest" depends on what you are good at or already know a lot about. Stat is easy for someone who is naturally strong at math, but would be pretty hard for someone who wasn't. Physics C and chem are also very dependent on how strong you are at math. Bio is straight-forward, but requires lots of memorization; people who are good at cramming facts will find it easier than people who struggle to memorize stuff.

Jo- our school does have quite a few AP's, just not AP Statistics. Unforunately our school doesn't have AP Psych, either =[

would it be impossible to study for AP Calc by yourself, too tough of concepts without the guidance of a teachter??

j/w cuz i am considering it myself...maybe

It is possible. This kid at my school last year self-studied dittos and yaddeeedaahh of Calc AB and passed with a 3 on the AB.

hmm while im at it, maybe i could just invent a new kind of math...calc may not be such a hot idea
