Ok, If I self-study an AP class, do I just take the exam, or do I get a grade in the class and will it effect my GPA? Please help

I’m pretty sure you just take the exam…

when you say self study, you mean you’re just going to study for it on your own, and not take any class of it at school, correct?

Yes, but is it possible to get a grade for the class, other than the exam grade?

Self-studying for an AP will not affect your GPA so don’t worry.

So, what’s the point of just taking an AP class just for the credit and no grade? Does it impress colleges?

A lot of times people self-study APs for classes that their school doesn’t otherwise offer in order to show colleges they’re willing to challenge themselves.

Plus the credit can always come in useful to get you out of classes once you start college, as well.

Because some people think that colleges give a damn if they study 20 APs in subjects they don’t even like.

And to get college requirements out of the way.

I want to self study AP Psych, 1) it’s not too hard 2) i want to take it 3) i dont have space to take it in school
Should I self study it?

If it’s something that you’re interested in, I would go for it! Apparently the AP Psych exam isn’t that bad… I’m taking the class this year, and it’s mostly vocabulary and stuff. I would suggest asking someone who has taken the class and/or self-studied what the best prep book is to prepare.

Good luck!
