Okay. So I'm partially doing a self-study for the AP Spanish Literature exam that's coming up this May (passed the AP Spanish Language exam last year with a 5), and would REALLY appreciate it if I could find a study buddy (or buddies - the more the better!) on this site. I've compiled a list of literary terms and definitions in Spanish, and also notes for several of the works on the reading list (including but not limited to Don Quijote de la Mancha, Lazarillo, both poems by Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, and both of the "Romances"), and I'd be more than happy to share them in exchange for any more information/notes you can provide. :D Spanish Lit is rumored to be one of the most difficult AP exams out there, but if we can both work together, I'm pretty sure we can tackle it successfully. I'm pretty good about keeping promises, so when I say I'll exchange my stuff for yours, I really will. :)

I just went through my notes, and here’s a list of all the works which I have compiled notes on so far:

[ul]
[] Don Quijote de la Mancha
[] Lazarillo de Tormes
[] Ay de mi Alhama
[] El Romance del Conde Arnaldos
[] El Ahogado Mas Hermoso del Mundo
[] Un Dia de Estos
[] Mi Caballo Mago
[] Mientras por Competir con tu Cabello
[/ul]

I’m currently working on notes for “La Muerte y la Brujula” and “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” (also, am almost finished with notes for both Sor Juana’s poems). Again, if any of you are interested, just respond to this thread or PM me! :)

Man, I am so glad I am super fluent in Spanish so I don’t have to go through this when I take that test.

^ The thing is, even if you’re super fluent, you still have to know all the literary devices/backgrounds/imagery/literary terms for each work involved (AND have to read each of them too), which is where the hard part is. I’d consider myself fluent in Spanish (I had an easy 5 on the AP Spanish Language exam), but this is all stuff I need to know. Are you taking the exam this year? If so, can we pair up? :)

Hello? Study buddy, are you out there somewhere…? I’m hoping you are :/

Bump… 10char

Bumping again…

Bumping a third time…

I’ll be your study buddy …next year :P

^ Lol Curtis, you mean you’re going to ask me for all my notes… :P

How’d you do on the exam?! Are there any prep books available at all? My daughter may take both the language and the lit exams in 2011.

I ended up with a 3 (eventually canceled my score afterwards; will probably be taking it again next year but definitely having completed the reading list lol!). There was one entire question on the FRQ I couldn’t answer since I hadn’t gotten around to reading the works it asked for due to lack of time, so it is imperative that your daughter reads every single work on the list if she wants a 5. I’m not aware of any good prep books out there for Spanish Lit… I guess she just really has to know the themes/basic ideas in each work very well.

I wish her all the best :D

Hi I am also looking for a spanish prep book…has anybody found one?

I’m taking the AP Spanish literature course at my high school this year. Unfortunately, we don’t have a teacher, so it’s more like independent study, which makes it quite difficult. I am still keeping up with my readings however I am in critical need of a study budy.

@fledgling Sorry, I guess I stumbled onto this thread about a year late. Anyway, I’m taking AP Spanish Literature this year and it’s been pretty brutal. Could you please message or contact me? I’d really like to share notes/ask for advice if you’d be willing. Thanks!

I will b taking AP Spanish Literature next year (2012), by self-studying as well, and am fluent in Spanish, so if any1 wants 2 b my study buddy let me know!!!

I’m taking it this Friday…and I feel so lost. I just took AP Lang today (mehh) and I’m really hoping that Spanish Lit won’t be too bad.
PLEASE, PLEASE anyone that’s taken it- any advice? What to especially go over?
I’m sooooo worried about those essays. And my stress level is up so high, I just might have a panic attack :/

I would really like to be your study buddy! That way we could both get fives (;

i am freaking out about this test. i read all the works and my spanish level is pretty good, but i suck at writing the essays with a time limit, and it’s worse when i’m nervous! scary scary stuff

I’m not worried at all. After almost going insane over Macro and Government I’m pretty chill about this one. Spanish is my first language so I’m covered.

My advice would be to make sure you’ve read everything and understood it. Seriously, they let a lot slide because they realize learning a new language isn’t easy stuff. If you do not feel confident I suggest you look at some essays from the college board; it’s pretty laughable how bad some are and how they get passing scores, BUT I do admit this class is kind of more challenging than Language.

I’ve slacked through the year and today have to read over the stories I missed plus read all the notes we’ve taken. My teacher has given us so much freaking material that I think I’d probably pass a damn exam to get a Masters. (hyperbole)
