AP Stat or AP Bio?

Right now, I'm a sophomore. Next year, I'm going to take AP Calculus AB, AP Language/Composition, AP US History, and I don't know if I should take AP Biology or AP Statistics. I'm definitely doing AP Calculus BC as a senior, so I have to eliminate either AP Bio or AP Stat. I don't know what I'm going to major in, so I don't know what to do. I'm in a standpoint that I can't decide, because I like both science and math. Thanks.

Do you have a science for your junior year schedule. If not take bio you do then take whatever you think is more practical and what you are more excited about.

Don’t take AP Bio with AP US…you’ll literally drive yourself crazy. They’re both super heavy reading classes. If I were you, I’d pick AP Bio over AP US.

If your time management is good then take all of those AP classes. I would choose AP bio over stats. Also why take 2 math classes if senior year you will undoubtedly take calc bc?

@RhythMeleon I am going to take AP Bio and AP US History next year as a sophomore. I have never taken an AP class before though. I am very dedicated and have a lot of self disciplined. Do you think it is possible to make a 4 or 5 in both of those classes. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks(:

I’m in AP Bio and apush right now, and I would not recommend it. The sheer amount of information can get overwhelming. While I realize that I will have to memorize much more in college, having those two on top of other APs and ECs is not fun. I would recommend AP Stat. You should have at least one science class junior year though…

@fostej15 it’s very possible, it just takes a lot of work.

@fostej it’s not so much the AP scores that are worrying as are the grades in the actual class. AP US and AP Bio are NOT a good combination. that being said, your school might be completely different. ask upperclassmen

AP Statistics would likely be more useful than AP Bio. I know that it just depends on what you eventually major in and the job you get, but I would imagine that AP Stats would have more versatility and applicability over a greater variety of subjects.

BTW Good luck with your schedule!

@stressesdouttt I will be taking the classes online, I go a small and rural school. I have excellent teacher, but I feel behind I’m my studies, as I have taken only Physical Science. That being said, I feel to get into a university like Vanderbilt I shall need to show I am capable of difficult course. Also I enjoy science and social studies a lot.

@fostej well in that case, I suppose you could go for it. I don’t enjoy US and have a bad teacher and a bad textbook (i.e. no proper way to get the information on the test), but if you enjoy it and have good teachers, I suppose you’ll manage. online courses usually make things easier too, provided that you’re good with time management.

@stressedouttt Okay, thanks for the talk. ;)
