Hi everyone. I am going into my senior year and I was just told that I have to choose between AP Stat and AP Spanish, because I cannot fit both into my schedule. I am probably going into college undecided, but I want to do something with either medical, law, or math (which could entail business school) professions. With this considered, would it be more beneficial (for my own good and from an admissions perspective) to take AP Spanish or AP Stat in my situation? I took Spanish 1 in 8th grade, and finished Spanish 4 in my junior year, so I have had 4 years of Spanish, just not all in High School. I am planning on applying to Ivies as my reach schools, if that would change anything. Any help would be appreciated.

I see from your Chances thread that you've taken AP Calc, so you have 4 years of both math and language. Based on that I'd say it's kind of a toss up. Stats will be applicable to medicine, not quite as much for math since they're really separate fields. Do you have any interest in using your language in working with Spanish speaking populations? Does either one support your other interests? My only other thought is that schools like H really want you to be fluent in a language, and AP Spanish would support that:

I'm kind of facing the same dilemma. Spanish might show a little more commitment, and I'm sure it'll be important, whereas Stats is something I can self-study. But to be honest I'm more interested in Stats than Spanish.. gah.
