I've posted this kind of thread before, but this time I'm asking if anyone's aiming for that State Scholar this year or next year?
I'm graduating in 2010, so, if you are aiming for that award, please post your number of exams and what year you are going to get it. So I can have a rough number and I'll then determine whether it is worth my time and money to try for that.
Male Scholars for CA only!

23 5 avg. jk no way will i be state scholar for cali, but that sounds right for cali

I will graduate in 2010 with 30 APs on my record and presumably passed them all. Yes I am a male in CA.

Sorry for ruining your chance at State Scholar award.

I was only kidding, but what would you do with the state scholar award? You can't even put that down on the application. Do you just want the award to boast your ego?

I'm also graduating in 2010 and just moved to CA from Illinois. So far I've taken all my AP exams in Illinois, but it's already been confirmed that they will count towards the award given that I am now a resident of CA. I started self-studying AP exams in the seventh grade while in a competitive preparatory school. So far I've taken 17 AP exams including Psychology, Spanish Language, Environmental Science, Calculus AB, and more. I've received 12 5's 3 4's and 2 3's so far in my AP career. This May, I plan to take 7 more AP exams. I'm still unsure of how many I'll take my senior year, but I would guess that in all I'll have taken roughly 30-34 AP exams.

Actually I'm a senior in Illinois who has taken zero AP exams. Considering that all universities have a limit as to how much AP credit a personcan get, I'd never put myelf through that many exams. I'm taking 4-7 this year and that's more than enough to me.

I don't think you'll get many serious responses to this thread because not many people are aiming for that award. What's the point of putting oneself through all that if there is no reward other than some minor recognition?

But anyway good luck on getting that award. I would guess you'll need to take about 25 exams to get it.

In all seriousness, is there really a point in winning AP State Scholar? It does not matter at all because you win it after your senior year of high school. What's the point?
