AP Statistics "core" academic subject?

For letters of recommendation, would AP Statistics be considered a "core" academic subject? Thanks in advance.

It is in the “core” academic areas of science, math, foreign language, english, and social studies. While it is an elective course and not always on the track for every high school student, it can still be beneficial. I got my letter of recommendation from my AP Statistics teacher. It turned out to be great. Go with the ones you feel the most confident with. Good luck

Great–thanks very much!

Statistics is usually considered a higher-level Math class. My son took it instead of Calculus. His AP Statistics teacher wrote recommendations for him. She was also his IB/SL “Math Studies” (sort of a pre-Calculus course) teacher his junior year, though.

Thanks very much! It sounds like this would be fine, especially if the teacher also knows the student in another capacity, as a mentor or club advisor.
