I complete AP BC Calc last year and scored a 5 on the exam. I would like to take multivariable calculus but a college course i am taking second semester interferes witht he class. I have then decided to take AP Statistics. Does one class look better in the minds of colleges even if one is AP and the other is honors?

Multivariable Calc is not just an honors class. That's difficult and high level math, and looks just as good on your college application, if not better, than AP Stats.

Can't you take both? :). However, I would go with the multivariable calculus.

AP Stats is a joke class in my school. Kids who aren't good enough at math to take AP AB Calc or AP BC Calc take AP Stats instead. We don't even go as high as multivariable calc, so that's way more impressive.

multivariable calculus by FAR!!! AP Stat is a joke, thats why i'm taking it, i don't even like math or excell in it.

Multivariable Calculus is definitely the better choice by far. Almost everyone who tries can take AP Statistics and do well, but very few people get the chance of even passing in Multivariable Calculus. Plus, it's a very useful course if you're seeking engineering, science, or math.

Admission officers are not idiots. They don't automatically assume that just because it's labeled AP, it's better. They consider the context of the course just like every other person around here.

Take both at the same time if you can. If not, AP Stats can be covered later. Multivariable is leaps and bounds beyond AP Stats.

so just one semester of Multi is better than AP Stat?

maybe i'll switch out of molecular biology into AP stat?

Yea, if at all possible, take Multivariable.

If you have the slightest interest in analysis, you'll like the class. Either way, taking such an advanced class is something colleges really like to see.

oh god, my school only offers College-prepatory statistics and Calculus BC as the highest level math. I never heard of multivariablecalculus before right now

Multivariable Calculus is usually a semester class. It's actually not so bad. Just an extension of single variable calculus into 3D.

I wanted to take it (multi-variable) in my school this year, but we don't have it!

At my school, we learned Multi-Variable calculus for fun after the AP test :(. It's really easy though.
