So, according to my high school curriculum, I might be allowed to take ap stat next year as a sophomore, concurrently with precalculus.
However, I am curious as to whether or not it would be too hard.
So, here is my question: to all of you who have taken stat, do you think that it is manageable as a sophomore?
I will also ask my counselor and teachers after the break, but I am just a bit curious.</p>
<p>I don’t know about your school, but in my school, the AP Stats class is very easy. I think even easier than pre-calculus.</p>
<p>Same here, our AP Stats class only requires Alg2 as a prereq and it is very easy.</p>
<p>At my school, it was really easy. (I just finished). All you needed to do was learn how to plug data into a calculator and push some buttons. Not a lot of math involved. You might try asking people at your school what they thought, since you might get a hard teacher or something, but at my school, I think a sophomore could handle it.</p>
<p>AP Statistics is the easiest class ever. Even a freshman can do it. It’s not really a math class.</p>
<p>I was doing the same. Taking AP stats and trig at the same time. Stats was easy and fun. Like everyone is saying, all it really is is plugging things inside the calculator. You should def do it.</p>
<p>AP Stats deals with a lot more proofs and writing; your math skills shouldn’t be a problem in the course.</p>

I’m only in Algebra II now and I’m a sophomore too. But, my brother is taking AP Statistics next semester, and he said that regular statistics was really easy, and he said that AP Statistics is a lot of proofs and writing like what thecollege1 said.</p>
<p>AP Stats is a ton of pushing buttons on the calculator and memorizing set phrases to write down. Requires maybe a 6th grade math ability.</p>

<p>You are absolutely wrong. Have you even taken statistics or even know what a statistic is? Statistics is never about proving. Statistics is the study of the collection, organization, analysis, and interpretation of data. It deals with all aspects of this, including the planning of data collection in terms of the design of surveys and experiments. It deals with uncertainties. I think this is the most ignorant statement I’ve ever read on CC. I will however grant to you that statistics involves more writing. </p>
<p>For the OP, stats is about as easy as pre-calc. I am taking statistics this year together with abstract algebra, a much more difficult combination.</p>
<p>AP Stats should be fairly manageable as a soph. I’m totally horrible at math, but even I can handle the basic problems in AP Stats without too much difficulty. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being easiest, 10 being hardest), I’d give AP Stats about a 7, maybe a 6. You should be fine :)</p>
<p>I’m taking stats and pre-calc right now as a sophomore, and I don’t think it’s bad. Like others have said, stats is more concept than math. Really, you just have to learn how to give answers that satisfy the teacher (labeling, showing all work, etc.)</p>
<p>I’m taking AP Stats right now. It’s pretty simple just make sure you properly prepare for the AP exam and it also depends on your teacher. I have a great teacher but their tests are sometimes tricky so if you find yourself in that situation, don’t take it as a joke or easy class. Actually study!</p>
