AP Statistics

I am an incoming freshman and I have already taken Algebra 1 and Geometry; I will be taking H Algebra 2 next year. In my sophomore year, I will be taking H Precalc and in my junior year AP Calc BC. Now, having already taken AP Calc, I do not wish to take AP Statistics. However, I want to go to either MIT of Harvard. I don’t want them to consider me less because I only took 3 years of math in high school. Should I take AP Stat or not? I’m not really interested in it.

Do you have an option of a post-Calc BC course, like MVC or linear algebra, either through your school, online, or at a cc? If so, I would go that route. If not, I would opt for AP Stat. While 3 years of math won’t be an automatic transfer to the reject pile, I would think you would want 4 years of math to be competitive, particularly for a school like MIT.

I agree with @skieurope – enroll in MV, LA, or DE. It’s not unheard of over here to take multivariable junior year, actually.

However, I’d just like to point out that I have friends who had no math senior year and still got into MIT. They all qualified for AIME, but if you’re bright enough to do well in BC junior year, you probably have a shot, too.
